The Happiness Mantra
Happiness is not just an emotion but a state of bring. You can be stressed, exhausted or in a situation but what matters is, what is you state of bring. State of bring is how you feel most of the time. There are events and will be events in life that take tall. The thing is address is, do they disturb our emotional balance. Here is my mantra of 3 things that can help change the state of bring to being “Happy”. The good thing this is all based on scientific proven research and not just my thoughts. So let’s dive in
1. Restrict your options
One of the abundances we have these days are options for almost
everything. Be it clothing, food, friends or other material things. With
marketing Ads and offers like free returns, we not only have options to pick
but also change once we have made a choice. We having options is good, but it
will not make you feel happy. In fact they work contrary to happiness. If you
did not like something and returned it to get something else instead, well you
will feel unhappy with the first and the 2nd choice. Ref
Happiness comes from restricting option, making
a choice and living with it rather than always being in a flux whether the
decision was right or wrong. So what should be done. Well restrict options.
Make a decision and learn to live with it or make better decisions next time.
How is that done well let’s introduce the next point.
2. Like what you have
Wanting what you don’t have or what other
people have will have you feel envious, sad and resentful. All this is
associated with sadness. There will always be things that you cannot buy or get
or relationships/body shape that are not readily attainable. You can either
stress yourself out until you are able to attain, or you could be happy right
here, right now.
The key here is liking what you have. It
might not be the best, it might not be what you deserve, it is just filling
yourself with the felling of “Gratitude”. Chase you dreams and aspirations and
work for them but have a feeling of gratitude. It will make you feel happy. How
do you do it? That’s simple, start appreciating what you have the way you have
it. Start thanking for your what you have. It will establish in you the feeling
of gratitude and fill heart with happiness.
3. Invest in relationship
We are always looking
for shortcuts to happiness when we overlook what in front of us. Relationships
need nurturing, investment of time and attention. Did you know that the longest
study on happiness done for a period of 70 years concluded one thing common amongst all happy elderly people. They had invested in relationship and had someone by their side. Health relationship needs investment and grooming. Let's make sure we do not miss out of this aspect of our life. Ref
